no wonder i go out nearly every saturday night. theres nothing worth watching on sky either i just want a bit of light comedy entertainment that i havent seen before

Yes I agree. Me and the wife have a 5 week old son so don't go out now. There is absolutely rubbish on the telly. I reckon they think everyone goes out so they put crap programmes out!!

Well, it's a chicken-and-egg, cart-and-horse thing. People tend to go out Saturday night, so ratings are normally low, and so networks aren't motivated to put on good programming on that night--here in the U.S., Saturday night is often where networks place theatrical films edited for broadcast television, or reruns of established hits that normally run on some other day of the week.
Besides, with cable TV, DVD's, and DVR's, there's always plenty to watch without tuning in to the major broadcast networks.

I think the networks figure most people will be out on saturday night and they don't want to waste their good shows when nobodys watching.

No, everyone has gone out and is enjoying themselves, even the staff that work in the television programmes, they just leave repeats playing all night! So sad folks like us sit doing Q&As to kill the boredom!

I agree we pay for all these channels but theres not one decent program to watch on tele.
