What a great conspiracy theory. Kind of like asking if the communists got Hitler elected so he'd make Nazism look bad. It would be funny if it were true, but a person doesn't get to be a prominent conservative is he/she is deep down inside a liberal. They'd be dead by the age of 20 -- from starvation. They wouldn't be able to hold down any food if they had to spout the conservative propaganda line 24/7. No, they actually have to believe it.

Now don't get me wrong -- sometimes conservatives actually figure out what's wrong with their political beliefs and become rational, but it's hard to admit you've been wrong for all those years, so most just stop talking and ease up. But even that's kind of hard. Conservatives do like to talk -- telling everyone what's wrong with with changing things and why the old ways were always better. Sort of sad, isn't it?
