My mom put the question on for me, but what she missed was, I got a new thermostat, a new radiator and cap, and had the intake manifold gasket replaced. The car still overheats and loses all of the water in the reserve tank. It has been able to travel up to 200 miles before the low water light comes on. What do you think?

Sound like your radiator fan is not working if it only overheats when you stop. Air flows in to the engine when your driving and keeps it cool, when you stop moving the air stops blowing over the radiator and engine.
pop the hood, turn the key and check the fan is working - DONT put your fingers near the fan, you could lose one or two

You need a radiator flush take it to a service senter pronto you'll blow that engine if you don't!!! Just read your extras your block is blocked up with crud your looking at a rebuild if you cant get it to clear out. I once managed to do so by draining the radiator and refilling witha 50/50 mix of water and Hydrogen cloride(got it at a pool center) and let it idle for a hour and repeated untill it cleared up Good luck Did iether of those bright boy Mecks. replace the thermo stat? man I hope thats it!! HEY!! it may be in backwards check it out!Maby your fan blade is on backwards! stupid sh*t happens.

as a results of fact the pinnacle gaskets have been carried out the intake manifold replaced into already carried out. That leaves me to contemplate whether you basically had a topic-unfastened subject to start with. The tension caps on the reservoir tank are primary to bypass undesirable which permits the coolant to boil out. This in turn facilitates air to get into the device and as quickly as you get an air pocket overheating will stick to.

Your radiator cooling fan is busted. When you're moving, air is forced over the radiator, cooling it off. When you stop, no air movement means increase in temperature.
