I think about going into politics and becoming president from time to time. But, do I sound like I'll make a good president? I'll keep all US troops in Afghanistan. I would withdraw 75% of the troops within one year. The next year, Iraqi security forces would probably take over completely. I think withdrawing all troops right away would make Americans look like cowards. I would stop support for Israel, but I would establish a Muslim state so Israel can stop being attacked. I would try my hardest not to get the US involved in the Middle East because it is just a hornets' nest. I do not believe in war. I would support stem cell research so millions of people with kidney failure or other diseases can have their diseases cured and they don't die. I would support having better relations between whites and blacks in the US. I would increase funding with the police forces instead of putting all of the money into the military. Do I sound like I would make a good president?

Let's see.

1) "The next year, Iraqi security forces would probably take over completely"...umm...seen the news lately? Civil war is about to break out. Iraqi security forces aren't anywhere near being in control of the situation there and won't be in a year or two. Verdict: no vote for this one..

2) Stop support for Israel but establish a Muslim state: You're nowhere near the first person to suggest this. Problem is, who's going to give up the land for the Palestinian state (not Muslim state--there are Muslim states all around Israel)? None of the players in the region have offered it up. Verdict: No vote for this one.

3) "I would try my hardest not to get the US involved in the Middle East." OK, Iraq is close to civil war, there are battles going on between Israel and Lebanon, Iran is on the verge of having a nuclear weapon and has a very long standing hatred of Iraq, there continue to be terrorist camps littered across the Middle East, and the vast majority of our oil comes from there. Now, are you still sure you don't want any involvement there at all? Verdict: no vote

4) "I would support stem cell research..." Here's an interesting topic. Funny thing is that nobody's outlawed stem cell research. The debate is over whether the government should be funding stem cell research and the fact is that the gov't isn't going to come up with the magic bullet from stem cell research--it'll be the pharmaceutical companies that already have billions sunk into it. Oh, and kidney failure isn't a disease--it's a symptom of anything from injury to some diseases to some forms of cancer. Stem cell research isn't necessarily going to lead to a cure for that. Verdict: no vote

5) "I would support having better relations betwen whites and blacks in the US." Beautiful. Wonderful. Now, tell me how you're going to do it. Verdict: All fluff no substance. No vote

I'll leave the last one alone. There will be proponents of both sides of that argument and neither side could be right or wrong--there's just no answer that could be debated out here.

In short, though, no, you wouldn't make a good president. You haven't even reasearched any of the issues beyond the 5 minute blurbs on an evening's CNN Headline News. Don't get me wrong, I think your intentions are good, but you just don't know enough about the issues. You'd be in WAY over your head.

Not really. There is much too much funding for law enforcement in the U.S. to begin with. Take that money you would have saved from Iraq and dump it into social services and a national health care plan for U.S. citizens. And take the rest of the billions that you would have saved on the war and beef up the security on the border so illegals cannot enter the country. Also, crackdown on the employers that hire them and put them in prison for decades. This would mean higher wages for you and I. And put an end to the unjust war on drugs that punsihes citizens for posession. Take that money and dump it into medical treatment programs for those that are addicted. Instead of building more prisons to hold these harmless addicts. Now THAT'S a plan.

No. Everyone has opinions and ideas. Everyone is an "idea guy". It's one thing to debate a hypothetical. It's another to turn a hypothetical into a reality.

Good presidential candidates study political science & economics, know how to manage conflict, have leadership experience, have an exceptional knowledge and understanding of world history, law, etc.

I figure now is as good a time as any for you to start learning. Check the source list.

No - you don't. You sound like you have an overly simplistic view of the world, which is what has already gotten us a terrible president.

I didn't even read your reasons, but as long as your name isn't George W. Bush and you're not part of the Republican party, you have my vote.
