I keep hearing people upset with the President, well, here's your chance. How would you fix things in Iraq? If we pull the troops out Iraq will fall into civil war, and Islamic radicals could take over. That wouldn't make you a very good President, would it?

If I were to become President in 2008, and had to "fix" the situation in Iraq; I'd do the following:

1) Urge Congress to pass a resolution that promises the Iraqi people that we have NO INTENTION of establishing permanent bases in their country. This will ease their tensions regarding imperialism and occupation.

2) Through a step process; hand control over oil fields to Iraqi government. Helping them create jobs as Iraqis will be needed to secure and run the flow of oil.

3) Urge Congress to give our soldiers the funding for the BEST possible equipment needed to protect them as they finish the job.

4) a) Work with the Iraqis and the United Nations to transition control of the security to the UN Peacekeepers first and then to the Iraqi Government.
b) Back this process up with a set of Resolutions (in Congress and the UN Security Council) that promise this transition of power to the Iraqi people.

5) As "Part 4" is being implemented, have a steady drawdown of troops while UN forces increase until every U.S. soldier that isn't a part of the equal UN Peacekeeping Force has left Iraqi Soil.

I would bring the Iranian backed terrorist cells in Iraq and surrounding countries to their knees. I would pull all coalition forces out of the region, and start a bombing campaign that would put the region back to the 10th century B.C. Then and only then will the Islamo-Facists be any party worth negotiating with.

Unfortunately the coalition forces are much like the British Empire in the late 17th Century. I would have the military fight the war and not the poor quality mainstream media.

Let us not forget that the main job of the military is to make war and defend. Their job is not to play soldier at home and pretend everything is fine around the world.

Well I don't want to bomb them or anything. I am not God and I don't believe in that kind of stuff as it is. I would pull all our troops back home. Blow up all there planes and helicopters. And not let any of them ever come to the united states. And not let any of our people ever go there. Put a 50 ft. concrete wall seperating them and us. And never let our planes and helicopters ever go in there terratory either. I would do that to every place where terrarist have ever came from. And if it comes to oil and stuff like that, Then have a desinated place to switch vehicles and stuff. And people there at the meeting place that looks through everything for bombs and or chemicals that would harm us. So many people and security that no one could break in our or there side. Have forts built on our side all around the brick wall. And have all the specialist there to keep down any fighting. And have motion detecters everywhere.

properly what replaced into occurring socially whilst Woodrow Wilson grew to become President.. international conflict I. Up till that evaluate history that replaced into the main modern-day conflict seen. whilst there is super social upheaval for some reason society is going into faith rather than good judgment. particularly some activities additionally bolstered this... You had the super droughts of the Prairie belt between 1917-1920, then some years of respite till now the inventory marketplace crash of 1929 and years of the melancholy, then international conflict II got here.. then McCarthyism and the crimson scare, Korea, The chilly conflict, Vietnam.... In one hundred 12 months span that's a lot of social unrest as against what took place between 1620 and 1917. If I were president, I would examine what did we have to do with Iraq? OK, Saddam pissed off Bush and he has a lot of oil. The Twin Towers got knocked and we lost approx. 4000 Americans. Osama Bin Ladin was the blame and we ravished Afghanistan, but that was soooo easy and cost just a few million. What would I do about Iraq? I would have shot Saddam in the head if he pissed me off, repented for all the lives I slayed in Afghanistan, withdrew my troops and let the Iraqis kill each other, since it's the oil I'm really interested in getting. I would have built two more beautiful twin towers, under my name and presidency. There would have been an increased investment in US intelligence and the army would've been kept here on US soil to protect my borders. So far, I've only wasted one bullet and cleaned up all the rat droppings. Not to mention, I've maintained protection rather than leaving us vulnerable. Gas prices would go down and the planes high up. National dept kept low and public respect soaring. Terrorists would not have considered going to war with me, since they'd know I am no wussy. I will personally put a bullet in their head if it comes to the test. But, for those of you who voted for Bush, Good luck with that.

I would increase the present # of troops in Iraq by at least 5 times. Enough to get the job done fast and then get out and be ready to pounce on the next bastion of Islamo-facism.

Don't want to send troops? Send them glass making bombs. Start with Iran, they want nukes so very much.... give them a couple, from above.... they will think it is the light of Allah opening the way to Heaven and all those virgins.

I CANNOT believe some of the answers I am reading here. How can you possibly respond with comments like "bomb the whole place, increase the number of troops by 5 times", etc if you know that so many innocent people would be killed???

Well, they have been fighting in the middle east for 8000 years. I would pull out and leave those people to themselves. They don't want us there.
I am not a genius, but shouldn't Bush have known that the Sunni and Shites do not get along. Does not matter if we stay there 100 years. Nothing is going to change there. Bring our people home.

I would say: You good people, I am sorry that I messed up your country , I think I am needed at home now and will take my soldiers with me. Too many people have died here both for you and for the USA and it is time that I take my leave and apologize and leave the mess for you guys to clear up. I just figured out that I can't force a democracy on the whole world.
