The itching is normal. It is also typical that you cannot get a "perfect" shave like you can on your face.
No need to buy any additional products. You simply need time to adjust and get used to the itching until it goes away. Loose-fitting or no underwear is definitely important during the itching stage.
Keep shaving. You will be able to reduce the amount of hair stubs you leave over time as your shaving technigues improve. Disposable razors are fine but you have to use new ones often depending on the type of hair and how thick it is. After shaving your pubes with a razor a few times then the razor is perfectly fine for shaving your face a few times before you discard it.
For me, I use triple-blade disposable razors - I like the BIC brand ones that usually come 4 blue-handled razors in a blue plastic package. The BIC ones have a soft, lotion strip on the head of razor that I do find is helpful. I have not tried other brands of razors in so long I don't even know what else is available.
Keep shaving. The results are worth it.

Yup this is very natural. Make sure you are using a moisturizing shaving gel and try and take a shower in the whole process... The steam from the shower opens up your pores for easier shaving ;)

novice to shaving, huh?
Next time premoisten the area with jojoba oil and use a shaving cream in the shaving process.
Or did you use hair clippers?
Now that the deed has been done. Comfort the area with jojoba oil and powder both and the same time or independently.

Go get a loofa scrub at the drugstore. Scrub down there with the loofa and mild soap. It will help.

I think you can rub lotion on it. Now you know why some girls don't like shaving down there.
