Try a Card and a Gift Certificate if you can't decide... Inside the card put some ad's (curt from a newspaper or magazine)for things you think she may enjoy and a gift card she can afford to get them with. That way, a) you show you are thinking of her B) you are off the hook for buying the "wrong" gift.

I've been in a relationship for 6yrs now with my wife, and she usually takes me out for dinner because she can't cook,
[ I always do] and then over dinner we exchange gifts, and when we get home I give her a hot oil massage and we........ well you finish the story!

ive never been in a long term relationship, so i dunno really...
but i spose it depends on what kind of girl she is.
maybe something classy like a really nice neclace.
or a memory would be great to in my oppinion. like take her somewhere nice. throw a pary. go to a concert. take her away for the weekend. depends on what kind of relationship you have too. but im sure whatever you find will be jsut great.
my ideas may be a bit extreme, but like i said, ive never been in a long term relationship, so a year seems really ******* important compared to my 3 months. lol
