The UN is worthless, it needs to be dismantled immediately. If the UN is for children, why does it support abortion.
There is so much poverty, at least in the USA, because people are waiting for the Democrats to fulfill their promises made to the people through the years. It just isn't going to happen, campaign promises are lies told to get votes.
As for the world: the main cause is over breeding, maybe over population is a nicer phrase.... they mean the same thing when there isn't enough food and/or economic opportunity available to sustain the people in an area: hunger, poverty, death, and probably war.

Children suffer for every bad act committed by adults on the planet.
The UN should not have to be passing edicts to do what people should be doing as a matter of course.
The first line of defense is the individual parents. If you cultural tradition is to have 12 kids, and you can only feed 3, DON'T HAVE 12! Then the international community will not be so overburdened trying to overcome YOUR part of the problem.
The arbitrary re-distribution of wealth worldwide will NOT solve the problem. Whole regions of the world will not benefit from it at all due to their cultural outlook, etc. They will not change their ways, squander their portions, and then come back demanding more.
I split my monies between providing life saving humanitarian aid, and those charities that wish to assist peoples in learning the skills to make it on their own.

Good question. All the TV appeals seem to be about providing safe drinking water. My 82 year-old mother remembers giving up her ha'pennies at school for the same thing. What have they been doing with the money?
Now, the NSPCC wants me to chip in £5 a month to prevent child abuse. I'd have thought a 10p phone call to the police could manage that!

Because no one cares. This is a selfish world (it has always been). What we don't see, we ignore.
And anyways, how many of those who have the power to finish this know what it means? To erradicate such a thing, first we need to understand what it is, this demands social responsability and empathy for our fellow human.
Our behavior as a collective is that of a teenager. We understand nothing as we lack the education and knowledge to make a judgement. Poverty is but a sympton of our stupidity.

Because we live in a capitalist society where profit has a higher priority than helping people lead a decent life. Creating and perpetuating Inequality is how the system works, This is simply one of the consequences of that.

I actually disagree. Poverty will always be around it is a fact of life. So many charity groups DO help impoverished children. Imagine the vision if all of those charities disappeared.

I think you just answered your own question. Little is done because poverty makes it difficult to do much. Laws that pick others' pockets are no solution. They just increase the poverty levels by spreading the misery.

There will always be poverty since we overpay corporate managers that then take away US jobs and outsource to foreign countries. No more outsourcing! Pay living wages.

Our government doesn't care about children because children don't contribute to their campaigns and they can't vote. We spend huge amounts on the elderly, even though the elderly are the richest among us, because the elderly give to political campaigns and they vote.
