Don't worry about it 28lbs isn't that much. Before I as pregnant I weighed about 125 , and I got up to around 165. My baby is now 2 months old and I have about 10lbs. to go. You won't be able to exercise right away, but after about 4 weeks i started taking walks which really helped. I don't think I'll ever look exactly the same because of my hips spreading, and my boobs which use to be perky aren't so perky any more. Overall it all works out.

Yes, the "average" weight gain for women is recommended between 25 - 35 lbs, but it also depends on the woman's pre-pregnancy size. If you were under weight, then 35lbs is the "average". Women who start off over weight thgouh, will be fine gaining only 15 -20 lbs.
One thing about the "eating for two" that people don't understand, is that the other one ONLY requires about an additional 300 calories per day!!! Other than watching the types of foods you take in, there really isn't that much MORE you need. Lots of fruits and veggies, protein, etc. Try to stay away from empty calories like candy bars and cakes, etc
When I had my first daughter, I was extremely fit, all muscle and weighed 140. I gained 80lbs with her. I fell into that whole "Oh, it's ok, I'm eating for two" trap and ate everything in sight! It took about 1.5yrs to get 40 of that off, then I got pregnant again. I gained an additonal 40 and it took about 1.5 yrs to get that off and then some. This time around (a whole 10 years later!) I have gained 10 lbs already and I'm 5.5 months. I'm just smarter about it now, but since I still wasn't "thin" to begin with, I still need to watch it.
Breastfeeding does burn a lot fo calories, but keep trying to incorporate excercise. I can no longer play softball, so I'm trying pilates/yoga and walking now. The more you put on during the 9 months of pregnancy, the more you have to lose afterwards.

With my first child I gained 75lbs, I never lost it all, in fact, five years later when I got pregnant again I weighed more than I did when I delivered my first. With the second I gained 50 lbs, and I have lost all but ten lbs, 10 months later, but I have been at this weight for four or five months now.
Don't loose heart. I hardly work out, and when I do I see results. I just have to stick with a plan. When I was pregnant the first time I was only 17 and thought that I could lose it with out trying, so I ate like a horse. I know now that you do not have to eat double portions in order to eat for two. You just have to eat better.
I also used cocoa butter and vitamin e gel and I have all kinds of stretch marks. They do fade with time though. I have a set on the bottom of my stomach from my first and a set along the middle from my second, but they do get better. Some women can lose it all.
Do not get discouraged. I don't have a great story to share, but I know plenty of women who can lose it just a few months down the road. I am not a very active person, so don't think that my story will be your story.
Enjoy your pregnancy and don't worry about the weight and stretch marks. It is all part of being a mom and you can take care of those things after the baby comes.
Good luck!!

When I was pregnant with my son I gained 36 lbs. I was able to lose it all pretty quickly. Six weeks after I had my son I was wearing my size 4 jeans again. It all depends on your body...everyone is different. It may not be that easy when I have #2. I did breastfeed him until he was a year old...I'm sure that also help. Although, not everything is as firm as it was before. My stomach is not as tight looking as before and has some stretched out skin. It is not bad, but it isn't what it use to be.
When you are someone who is fit and in good shape, it is hard to see your body change the way it does when you are pregnant. However, no matter what you look like after you have that baby, it was all well worth it. You brought this miracle into the world and will love it no matter how your body may have changed...that should not be a big concern.
Good luck with your pregnancy and do not worry about the weight you have gained (I have known people that gained 60 lbs when they were pregant and are skinny as rails now).

It really depends on a lot of factors. I had toxemia with my first child and because I had it I gained 100 pounds. Also I was put on bedrest when iI was 6 months pregnant. I had lost all but 40 pounds of it by the time I went for my 6 week check up. I was put on the nuva ring at my 6 week check up to stop another pregnancy. Well 3 months later I found out I was 2 months pregnant. I gained 45 pounds with my second child because I was on bedrest at 4 months. My kids are 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 now and I still have 30 pounds to lose.

I gained about 35 pounds with both of my children. The first time, the weight came off very fast- I drank tons of water and just watched what I was eating. With the second child it took a little longer- still drank lots of water but had to increase my exercise as well- I bought an elliptical machine. I lost all of my weight with the second one after 4-5 months. I am just now fitting into my old clothes though a year later. Even though you can lose the weight- it seems the like hips and thighs are larger than they were before- making pants hard to fit into again.

I averaged 30 pounds. However, between the baby, the amniotic fluid (I have a lot of fluid and large babies) and fluid retention, I weighed the same as I did when I first got pregnant within a week of delivery. So it's not so bad to gain around 25 pounds.

With my second pregnancy, I gained 42 pounds. It took about 2-3 months for the weight to come off. But if you decide to breastfeed the weight will come off faster!
