I am 21 and I am overweight. Could that be the reason that I am not getting pregnant? Me and my boyfriend have been together for 5 years now, and we want to have a baby. Nothing is wrong with my ovaries or anything like that, so what could be the issue? Please help...

Go for the sperm count, to out rule anything wrong in the HE MAN department. I've always been overweight and I have six children, the last two are twins, so I wouldn't exactly blame your weight.
Try the ovulation kit to get your cycle down, abstain from sex for 7 days prior to your cycle to let his little swimmers multiply a little and go for another round. Stay in bed after sex for at least an hour to let gravity give some assistance, or just go to sleep for the night. Missionary position is still the number one recommended position for pregnancy. Good Luck!

A few reasons:
1. Cervix: your cervix could be tilted in such a way that it acts as a natural barrier, not allowing any semen to enter. You can try squatting down and rocking on your feet back and forth before sex. After sex, lay on your back with a pillow under your butt, and your legs propped against the wall.
2. Endometriosis: a very controversial condition. (I'm 21, have endometriosis, and haven't gotten pregnant despite almost 4 years of unprotected sex) I don't mean to scare you, but a lot of people who try to become pregnant, and then can't, find out that they have endometriosis. Endo is when the lining of the uterus grows on the outside of the uterus as well, and basically grows things together and can-in laymans terms-squeeze your fallopian tubes closed. Look it up on the web for more info, or ask your gyno.
3. Infertility-either you or your boyfriend.
4. You may not be doing it on the right days of the month when your fertility is optimal.
5. As far as the overweight thing goes...it depends on HOW MUCH. If you're less than 200 lbs, it shouldn't really be an issue. Anything over that, and it's possible that your weight could have a factor.

I hope this helps... And just remember that right now (before a pregnancy) is the best time to try and get into shape. You need to be healthy for your baby, and if you're overweight before having a baby, it's nearly impossible to lose that weight without surgery. Good luck girl!

Make sure you work up a sweat during exercise! Maybe you can lose a few pounds , like 5 or 10 pounds it can make a difference! I'm overweight also and it does make it hard to TTC ! When I was slimmer I got pregnant with no problem, so the extra weight does complicate things! I hope this helps you guys ! Good luck TTC#1!

It depends on how long you and your boyfriend have been trying to get pregnant. Ive read that you have only a 25% chance each month and that for most couples it takes a year. If you've been trying longer than that, I suggest visiting your doctor for an exam. A dr. should be able to tell you if your weight could be an issue or not.

Overweight women are likely to have many complications when trying to conceive it is best that you lose some weight to a more healthy level then you may have a better chance of getting pregnant also Overweight and obese women are more likely to suffer complications during pregnancy, and their babies have an increased risk of birth defects and prematurity.increasing body mass of mothers was associated with higher rates of babies being born with birth defects, jaundice and hypoglycemia. Their babies were also more likely to be born prematurely and require admission to an intensive care nursery.

Iam 21 and im also overweight. me and my husband have been trying for 2 yrs. being overweight can lessen your chances of becoming pregnant. Check your BMI. If your bmi is above 30 or below 25 then yes it can harm your chances of becoming preggie. i assume you have been tot he doc b/c you said that your ovaries are fine. do u have regular periods? why not try the BBT method, The cervical mucus and position method.

I am also overweight and I went to my doctor over that very same problem. He said that being overweight will cause you to not be able to concieve. He told me to lose about 20lbs and try again. I did and 10 months later I had a baby girl.

My sister-in-law was really fat. She tried and tried to have a baby and it didn't work until she lost a ton of weight. Sometimes being overweight causes infertility. Lose some weight, but in the mean time, GET MARRIED!!!!!
