Is anyone else as annoyed with the current standard keyboard setup as I am? It is such a terrible layout. A 5 year old could have designed a better setup. I mean, it was made BECAUSE it was a terrible setup and made the typists at the time slow down enough to prevent the stamps on a typrwitter from hiting each other. It was also designed so that salesmen could better sell typwriters (Notice how you can spell out the whole word TYPRWITER just by using keys in the top row.)
DVORAK is the way to go. Now there is a layout with potential. But alas, like the 8-track player, it never became the standard it should have been, losing out to another product of inferior design.

DVORAK is a keyboard setup designed years ago. it is made so that the most used keys are on the home row and in a way such that you almost never have to type two letters in a row with the same hand. It is set up so perfectly that most English words can by typed by alternately using each hand for each new letter.
If you have Windows XP, DVORAK is already on your computer.(Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages -> Details -> Add....) All you have to do then is physically move the keys on your keyboard and Viola! An amazing setup! So "S" is now 'O' and the semicolon is now the useful letter "S".
Too bad it never caught on. Too bad we all hate change.

Honestly, what were they thinking? A semicolon on the home row?!? Why? How about a period, or at least a comma. But a semicolon?
