Yes...Zelda asked six days ago: Why have so many baby boomers (the sex, drugs & rock generation) turned into neo-cons?

Best Answer was by someone called simply "Me!"

Here is my brief, simple answer:

They didn't turn into neocons...they were opposed by neocons...and their presence (the opposition) is more prevalent in mainstream venues...while the more liberal faction opted out of the lime-light.

And I should have added: "...often work behind the scenes in meaningful ways." My point of view only. Zelda was going for something different...but it was intelligent none-the-less.

Neocon is just a word used to make the Republicans sound bad (brings in neo like in neo-facist and con which sounds like well, a con, though it does seem to be somewhat accurate in defining Republicans). It happens on both ends, tax-and-spender and soft-on-crime are used by the Republicans to describe Democrats as well (and not entirely inaccurately that way either). That is just the realities of politics, its a verbal war in which you try to convince people to join your side and sometimes you slip into the stupid retarded nicknames to do so. Both sides are guilty of it, no need to attack just the Democrats.

I think so... neoconservative is a technically correct term, and just because you abbreviate it... it doesn't make it illegitimate...

like for example... "What effect do you think neocons have had on modern conservatives?"...

but what about "libtard" or any variation of that?

I haven't seen one yet. Then again, I don't have 12 hours a day to look.

Yes, I've read a few. It is about how the question is asked or the context.
