I almost did once when two punks had the nerve to try to car jack me as I drove into a dead end street in the middle of low income housing project in SF.
I saw them in rear, (doors were locked) and I floored the car and drove right at them. It was them or me.
Dumbasses dodged my fender in their knees by about a half second. I was prepared to kill them. It was an act on fear and adrenaline.

At one time I would have but now I have developed such a respect for life that I hate to even kill a pest in the house such as a spider.

I know someone who has. He was a teenager who brutally killed someone. Now he's doing a lot of prison time for his DUMB, heartless ideas.

somebody choked to death in my restaurant once, although i didnt cook the food or participate in the attempt to revive him it still haunts me and i often wonder if i could have done anything differently which might have saved him.

In my opinion, if you haven't managed to stop the execution of a convicted criminal in your country, then you too share responsibillty for his/her death.
