I think most priests/pastors have a good life style.

There are those who do missionary work amongst the poor and ill who suffer hardships but they are the minority.

Urban priests living in a church supplied rectory with servants and a car supplied can well afford to take the "vows of poverty". What do they need money for when all their needs are supplied?

I've known many Pastors, the true faithful Pastors I've known live the same as everyone else, they have jobs, thier spouses have jobs, middle class homes, no fancy cars or homes, well wait one Pastor had gotten a caddy just before he retired, but he worked for the big 3 and he pd. for it himself, most of the Pastors I've known don't even get enough coming in tithes & offerings to even keep the church going they have to use their own money sometimes.
Although I believe the tv Evangelists live very well, I really don't trust many of the tv Evangelists....But those I've known personally, I've seen their cars and been to their homes, and attended their Churches, they are pretty much like the rest of us, they don't live the high life, they have the same problems as most regular people.

As far as I know, priests don't take money and live very simply. Pastors however, live as modestly or as lavishly as the church permits them to. The church is their employment and the tithes the congregation puts in are used in part to help pay the pastor. If he or she has a large congregation, that faithfully puts in their tithes, then the pasto might be able to do more than just get by. Of course, if the pastor is not a good speaker, then it might dissuade members from giving their money.

I have yet to meet another poor vicar/pastor/priest and I've met a few...don't you just LOVE the ones with jowels and triple chins that drive from the church in an expensive car, passing all the impoverished without even a glance, on the way to their luxurious homes?
I HAVE met one(literally)vicar who was poor by choice. He was the ONLY christian I have ever met, before, during and after being an xtian myself, that I could ever imagine qualifying for a place in heaven, should it exist. THIS man, gave his OWN food, clothes and chattels to those he saw were poorer than himself and slept around 3-4 hours a night, due to all the good he did for those around him. He hardly EVER got thanks, but he didn't do it for the reward of recognition, nor any other gain but to see others happy. You know something else? He will die with NO recognition of his wonderful character, save for the memories the likes of I carry with me, as that was how HE wanted it.
If there was ever a God in the sense most xtians see it as, THIS man and this man only, would need never fear any hell.

"Christians" on this site? PAH. Don't make me LAUGH.

It usually depends on how large the church is, since most churches pay their staff through the tithing of their members, and if its a giant church with a lot of people shelling out a lot of money, then they probably live pretty well. However, Some pastors also refuse, because they are well enough off already, to accept payments from their church

my grandfather was a pastor, he lived on what the church gave him. He got by and was comfortable, but by no means would I say he was living well. He had a garden to help with food and SS to help pay bills when he was over 65.
BUT..... My old pastor at a baptist church I went to used the tithes to support his way of life, he had a huge house in the wealthy part of town, nice cars, took lavish vacations........ I guess it depends on the honesty of the pastor as to how well he lives.
