'the catholic church makes more money than microsoft'

2006-08-12 09:28:03 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 4 0

Yes, far too much in fact. That's why the dudes high up there in the church systems have boat houses and yachts and mansions and gold faucets in their restroom... usually, only 10%-30% tops of the money they raise goes to Charity. I'm not talking about the stuff u donate in church, that goes strait to the church, but when u see a solicitor outside Wal-Mart, on the behalf of a religious organization, claiming to give all profits to some Charity, 90% of that stuff goes to the church and the people employed with gathering the money. Only ten percent makes it to the children or homeless in need.

If one person turns to the Lord because of the churches influence, then it has made a very great profit!

Not the ones that I know of. People like to think the Catholic church makes all kinds of money but its earthly riches are in it's churches, school, hospitals and the land they're on and the art work it owns for the viewing pleasure of all. It takes every bit of money they have to provide the services they provide in schools, universites, hospitals, hospices, orphanages, old age homes, drug centers, inner city and rural area counseling and relief centers, relief services to the poor throughout the world and the upkeep of all it's buildings and the wages of the people it takes to staff them. There are some churches though that do take in money only to help themselves lead an opulant lifestyle but I believe most mainline religions use their money to help people rather than make a profit. I see a few of the anti-Catholic bigots already have put their bigoted remarks in. Are they willing to take on the cost of the billions of dollars the Catholic church spends on education and hospital services in the United States?

Yes. In the UK the churches are one of he biggest land-owners there are and with land and property prices increasing the value of churches increases by many billions a year.

This isn't maybe profit in the sense you were referring to as it's more of a gain on their assets.

The Church of England alone saw it's property and shares increase by £800 million ($1.5 billion) last year (source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,,1762249,00.html ) and this is just one of many different churches.

Whilst the churches may have valuable assets they are often cash-starved. The church building and the land it is on may be worth millions but the bank account may have next to nothing in it and it's pretty pointless selling a church to pay for repairs to it's leaking roof.

I agree that there are corrupt churches who spend too a lot money on issues that are not major yet i imagine per chance you're lacking the substantial element of christianity. we are said as to assist the negative, widows and orphans and we do. yet our conventional commandment is to evangelise the gospel, to deliver actuality to those who do not recognize it. incorrect or acceptable, all and distinctive seems more effective interested in come someplace that is nicely adorned, has air con, etc. Our churches are pleasing so when I invite my neighbor who would not be counted on God, they gained't be so became off with the help of the darkish, dirty, 4 walls and a roof position we meet to worship God that they gained't listen the actuality we are attempting to percentage with them. For that we do choose a valid device, smooth seating, etc. i recognize it would not sound acceptable and that i could truly have the money be spent on the negative as well, besides the undeniable fact that the actuality is that you go with a delightful position to fulfill or human beings gained't come. If human beings do not come then human beings do not listen about God and heavily isn't kept.

Oh, I'm sure they do, but churches are supposed to be non-profit, so instead of having big bucks in the bank, they build new churches and temples, or give back to the members of the church who are in need.

I will get yelled at for saying this, but yes. they are a business.
sure a business of religion, but still a business.
the recruit, hire, fire, and make a profit.
Think about it, how many churches do you see closed, those are the ones that couldnt get memebers, income so to speak, and had to close their doors.
If they didnt, wouldnt you think no church would close???
