It depends on a lot of variables.
I live on a barrier island in east central Florida so a cat 5 storm that makes land fall in say, Miami would probably produce cat 1 winds here. (74 m.p.h. +) Party Time! Buy booze, gas for the generator, ice for the coolers, and beer, beer, beer. Board up the windows light the hurricane lamps and candles and party down!

Now, let's suppose there is a cat 3 storm coming across the Bahamas and expected to make land fall in say, Cocoa beach! (My hometown!) That is a completely different situation altogether! Board up the windows, pull everything indoors that could blow away, gas up the car and get out! We can "hurricane party when we get to Jacksonville!

I live in Florida, so for a category 1-3 I stay and hope the electricity stays on.....category 4 and 5...leave.

It depends, since I live in Florida I'm used to having to decide. Usually we board up,stay and hope for the best. We don't usually party though. If it's supposed to be REALLY bad we might leave but usually we end up staying.

Katrina came my way and I left. The fools who stayed to party regretted it. Now if a hurricane came my way in a tall icy glass, I'd stay and party.

I would probaly be evacuated. The only people that would party are people that have never been in a hurricane before and doesn't know what it can do.

I don't know where you live but people who live in hurricane areas usually party first, go to beach to catch the waves, etc.
