well, i don't know anything about Michigan but i think camping in the yard is a great idea (weather and bears permitting). you should talk to you're parents first of coarse. maybe they could help you fire up the BBQ and roast some marshmallows, eat other camping foods. you could have hot chocolate and tell scary stories. you could even plan a flashlight scavenger hunt in the yard with prizes at the end. i would hit the dollar store for some cheap batteries and flashlights so everyone invited will have one to use. just think of all the fun things you could do! be sure to send out the invites early so people can get their tents and sleeping bags out of the attic = ) happy birthday! my little sister turns 11 soon, maybe we'll steal you're idea for her party!

Paulie Poo's a jerk! Anyway, I live in the south where it's not too cold in October. It all depends on the weather as far as the cold goes. Do you have a problem with bears where u live? If it's not too cold and there's no bear problems, it sounds fun! When I was young, we'd tell each other ghost stories. Try a camp fire roast w/ hot dogs and ghost stories. It could be a lot of fun!

It may be cold, but nothing a good sleeping bag can't handle. Unless you regularly have bears in your yard, there is little chance that they will suddenly appear from nowhere to attack you. S'mores are an excellent campfire snack.

i would say that well depending on where you are i mean location and depending on who is with you i wouldn't find any problem with it one tip though once it gets cold you will want to bring layers of clothes and blankets etc so you can keep warm i would say after Oct it would be a bad idea but make sure you ask your parents first and make sure its OK with every-ones parents that are planning on going as well the last thing you want is to get yelled at on your bday well hope all works out for ya and god bless oh ya and happy bday :)
