The first thing to do is calm the mind and body. Deep breathe. Really concentrating on the breath going in and out. Then, try to imagine life without this particular distress. Would life be better or worse? Imagine this distress being blown into a ballon until the ballon pops. Distress gone. Now deal with the reality with your intellect, not your emotions.

I distract myself with a book or online RP, cry to my fiance, drink occasionally, and write. I've learned that other people really don't give a crap about my stressors because they have so many of their own. Like Anne of Green Gables, I imagine my way out of things.

i do no longer think it rather is totally effectual for long term psychological/emotional misery. once you get that low it rather is almost impossible to think of how CBT stressful circumstances you too and that i be responsive to for me i finished up feeling like extra of a failure.
