I'm retired and applied for disability waiver of insurance premiums. Criteria states I must be totally disabled from occupation. My occupation is retired. How do I define my job criteria under description, retired and how is totally disabled defined?

retired... I won't work
disabled... I don't work

Fail to remain gainfully employed for a period of one year and the system will begin to get the picture.

Being retired is not being disabled. If you are receiving disability benefits from your former job or Social Security, then you are disabled. Otherwise, being retired is just being retired. My parents are retired but are totally capable of returning to the workforce.

"Occupation" on this application means "How do you make your money". If you are retired it means you're not making money anymore by being imployed, or by running a business.

"Disabled" means "unable to work, even if wanted to"

I believe it is doctor who has to determine if you're disabled.
