I am racked with doubt on this one. I thought Federer was undisputed champ for so long, then Nadal came along and has beaten him I think 3 out of 4 times. However, these were all on clay (again I think) and clay is just such a different beast. I think Federer could handle him consistently on any other surface which would make him the best... but 3 out of 4?! I just don't know what to think anymore...

I think its Roger Federer. Nadal beating him so many times gets you thinking, but assess both of them globally, and I think Roger comes out better. But Nadal is still young and has to learn while Roger is kinda at his peak right now, though I hope he'll keep up with the wonderful tennis. So that situation might change.
But they also have different styles so maybe comparing them too much is not really a good thing. Sit back and enjoy the game!

Nadal is 6-2 on Federer. His only two losses were once on hardcourt(Nasdaq-100?) and once on grass(2006 Wimbledon). Nadal wins consistently on hard and clay. Federer is not the best, just the king of grass. Nadal is the best.

Nadal has beaten Roger 6 times out of their 8 meetings.
2 (hard court) and 4 (clay).

Federer may have a losing record against Nadal, but overall Federer is in a class by himself. His consistency and mental toughness are superior to any other male tennis player. He is number 1, and deservedly so. On the women's side, I think that it is a toss up between Sharapova and Henin-Hardenne.

Federer could catch Sampras in total slams. Federer is one of the best ever. Nadal is a better version of Thomas Muster.

Its Roger Federer by far right now, the only person that has anything on him is Nadal but nadal only wins on clay and that's it and Federer beat him in Wimbledon, and there is a reason why Federer is ranked number one in the world in tennis.

Well so far, Federer is the top seed. And, since his 25th birthday, he is considered as one of the 'old guys'. When he starts to gradually lose his touch, Nadal will take over. Well at least I think so.
