Wow...sounds like someone has a chip on their shoulder...here's the question we should ask...why do all dark-skinned girls assume the light-skinned ones are stuck up?!? I went to college in NC and that was a prevalent thing. Yet a dark-skinned girl will be nasty to me because I am light-skinned with green eyes. I've never even had a dark-skinned friend because they all say 'Oh you think you're cute' when they don't even know me. So no we are not all stuck up!!!

mannnnnnn... this one stems back from way back in the day. Here goes... back in the slave days master slept with some of his slaves. Therefore when the babies came, master treated his kids (his light-skinned kids) better than the rest of the slaves. So they did in fact think they were better than the rest of them. They got to work in the house (house ******) while us dark-skinned folks was stuck picking cotton in the hot! Even today some light skin people are booje so to speak. They hair is long, some have hazel eyes (my little brother). And guess what... some white folks treat them better than us dark-skinned folk to this day. And unfortunately, until we as a people get the bright idea that we're all black, we'll still be a n#gga in the white man's eyes we'll still play the race card with our own people.

b/c we live in a euro-centric society that sets the standard of what's beautiful and what's ugly. light skin and eyes,straight hair and noses and thin lips are considered the norm. anything outside this mold is typically deemed unattractive or just plain wrong.
however this is far from the truth. if you are familiar with the Willie Lynch Letter this would make sense to you b/c the whole purpose of slavery was to separate blacks. if you turn them against each other by means of skin tone then they will always be at odds.
simply put blacks are programmed to think this way. i hope this helps you to better understand.

I've NO doubt that prejudice exists, even among different intensities of color, or lack of it. Rise above it. Let it roll off your back. Don't let them make you miserable. It's not about you, it's about them, their ignorance. Be kind but don't bother with them; their world is pathetic if they give into such snobbery!
Sad to say that prejudice will probably will always exist in the world even if it serves no good purpose except to separate us from one another.

Racism is everywhere, even among balcks. It is quite common to feel superior if you are looked slightly better than your own race or for that matter if one's skin is lighter than the rest....

the same way blondes think they are better than brunettes
the same way blue eyes think they are better than brown eyes
the same way tall people think they are better than short people
the same way smart people think they are better than average people
the same way straight hair thinks it is better than curly hair
the same way whites think they are better than blacks
the same way JLo thinks she is better than all of us
