The social issues gay males in Canada face today are complex and possibly minimalist; more rooted in cultural, ethnic, and spiritual frameworks than in the collective social frameworks of liberal thinking. The Charter and most provincial legislation for example guarantee the constitutional rights of gay males today. However, the ambivalence of most grass roots thinking and bias does not allow for the complete freedom of expression guaranteed by Charter. In other words, legislation governs behaviors. Consequences to discourage behaviors believed to be harmful to individuals that violate their constitutional rights are included. As the Charter guarantees freedom of choice, government may not govern the way people think or their bias. In this lies a dichotomy in Canadian society.

It's entirely cultural at this point. Aside from the fact that the new consent laws still don't address anal sex age consent (still an older age than vaginal sex, or oral sex), there really isn't anything left that Canadian society, atleast politically have left to accomplish. Some might argue that we need to change sex laws to reflect the fact that gay men are sluts who like to do it in the bushes, but the majority of men that I know have no desire to play in the park. Ultimately where we as a society have to grow is within ethnic, cultural and spiritual groups (as you pointed out) to help them come to a realisation that, at least in Canada, being gay is OK, and that there really isn't anything wrong, spiritually (there are many gay religious organisations who disagree with the Catholic Church or Orthadox Judaism etc..), physically or emotionally with homosexual people.

Social technology deals with the dynamics of human existence and all the factors of it. How each and every thing around us effects us and what occurs as a consequence. subject concerns dealing with Canadians in the present day i'd say: Water and the thank you to regulate the properly-known and who gets it and the thank you to respond to exporting it. the great Lakes are an exceptionally suitable commodity to many people interior the south. additionally the immigration situation. maximum of immigrants from the factors of Pakistan, India and Africa are coming into Canada on an generic basis. So the demographics of existence in Canada will exchange appreciably interior the destiny and that's a difficulty. For the faculties and in fact all the infrastructures and non secular establishments. greater mosques are appearing throughout and extra and extra of those immigrants are transforming into elected into the government positions and changing regulations that have been theory to in no way get replaced. case in point the Parliament of Canada has now bumped off Jesus from its good prayer. It became bumped off by utilising a newly-elected Muslim immigrant. It became between the 1st issues he did. So if he could do this on the 1st consultation of Parliament then what else could get replaced? wish this permits slightly for you.

Interesting question, but if I may first address one of the answers you received.......UH Jack, do you have any clue as to what you are talking about, the US is better for gays than Canada, what exactly are you smoking???
Now to the question at hand, are there still issues facing gays within Canada, absolutely, and yes most are of an ethnic and cultural nature, however one must remember that unlike women, blacks and other minorities, Gays have attained more rights and equalities in less than two generations. Other minorities cannot say the same. My point is, we still have details to hammer out and we must remain vigilant against the US style of Christo-nazism which permeates our neighbour to the south. So long as we continue to fight and live our lives openly we can slowly change others. You cannot force someone to change their heart unless you can offer a reason. Canada is truly unique in all the world and yes, sometimes I think we are a confounding nation fo contrasts but we are who we are, as you say "In this lies a dichotomy in Canadian society"

Canada is a deeply homophobic society. Things are much better for gays in the USA. The fact that Canada goes out of its way to pass all kinds of legislation in favor of gays proves the point - the nation is disgustingly homophobic, but legislators are trying to deny that inage. Sheer hypocrisy.
Love, Jack.
