There are probably some papers you can file in the US that will make it legal for you to marry another person in this country. But you should really consult a lawyer, no one here (unless they are a lawyer) can give good advice about this.

Seek legal assistance BEFORE getting married.

You must file for a divorce in the US before you can get married to another woman in the US. YEs the US will recognize it as bigamy is you dont get a divorce from another woman no matter what country you were married in. Maybe your old country wont recognize divorce, but the US does. Therefore you must file for divorce in US. Talk to a US divorce lawyer.

The us recognizes marriages from other countries. IOW, if you and your wife moved over here, you'd still be married here, too. So yes, getting married to the new gal is bigamy. My parents though.... my mom and my dad went their seperate ways when I was little, but they didn't divorce. It ended up that eventually they lost track of each other. My father remarried, but not legally. I think they only had a church ceremony. When I was like 18 my parents finally got a legal divorce.

I am sorry to say that yes you would be caught and could face possible jail time for bigamy. The US does recognize marriage from other countries to be legal and binding.

Well, I dunno if its Bigamy or not 'cos I'm not from the US. Since you do not love the wife you're legally (or do I say customarily) married to, then I think you should let her know...Do you guys have kids...That will be a great determining factor if positive is the answer...Do take your time to think on what to do....All I hope is that you're not eyeing greener pastures and wanting to abandon your wife (and your kids as the case may be) for this your US gal...Stay tight!(^_^)

You don't have to get married in the USA like you had to in your home country. Just live together and forget that peace of paper.

I am not sure, but I would say you probably can't get married legally.
