Anywhere from an 1-1/2 to 2 hours minimum each way (3-4 hours round-trip).
If you are going to work in Tacoma, I'd suggest living near there or at least 1/2 way there (Kent).

For the most part, if you are traveling from Seattle to Tacoma in the morning then you will be traveling against traffic so traffic should be a little bit lighter. But the distance between the two cities is quite large. And the cost of living in Seattle is outrageous where in Tacoma it seems to be really cheap. It is a lot nicer to live in Seattle, and there are several nice places in Tacoma to live (and some really scary places too.)

Best bet if you want to do that is to use public transportation for the commute .... esp train. Driving .... Seattle area is absolutely horrible during peak driving times. Awful. One of worst cities I have driven through for that (and I drive through Seattle frequently), and I have driven rushhour traffic in oakland/san francisco, L.A., Vancouver BC, Portland, OR,, Washington DC and NYC. Only NYC was worse of the above.
