Express your views on its connection to our freedoms. My view is that any elected official could misuse this tool to support his party's position much like Nixon did, but legally. I see a connected to a sort of McCarthyism whereby if a person or group does not support the official stance of an administration they are somehow unAmerican and can be classified as being the enemy, making tapping of their communication justified...and furthering the party of the ruling party...which to me undermines our entire democratic system

I've watched Attorney General Gonzales on CSPAN being questioned by different committees and he will stop them short and simply not answer a direct question on these lines, therre is no oversight over these people

It's giving a fox the keys to the henhouse and telling him to watch the girls while you're out. the Administration determines to what degree (if any) the laws will be enforced, they have their hands on the information and can call any of it "classified"
