yeah.................... just think about it if they ask u how many fingers do u have what r u going to say to people i got 8 adn 2 thumbs????????????????????????? i dont think so only if u r the guy from the ringer movie with johnny knoxville. anw yes thumb is a finger so u have 10 fingers including ur thumbs. thumb is just a name like one of ur fingers is called the pointer or something because we usually point with that one but we do conclude it as a finger we wont say i have 6 fingers 2 pointers and 2 thumbs because then we dont have fingers at all because all of them are called something ( middle finger, pointer, thumb etc)

In any language, it is a finger, its just a way to identify by name which finger. Easier than saying: "The first finger from left to right in my right hand with the palm facing down".
