Hi I've been in college for three years now and I'm so tired of these lamps above the desk and the light overhead. I wanna do something different so they'd look different and when it's time to leave they'll look the same as they did before. Suggestions?

Here are some ideas, all of which I saw in friends' rooms when I was in college.

Get stick on gels for overhead flourescent lights. They peel off afterwards.

Sheer scarves tacked over the overhead flourescent lights can always work. Solids and prints provide different effects.

Get clip-on (fire-retardant) lampshades for desk lamps, and clip-on paper shades (sometimes known as Chinese lanterns or Chinese paper shades) for overhead bulbs.

Paper shades can be fire hazards if they touch hot bulbs, so be careful, and look for fire-retardant materials.

And never cover a halogen bulb.
