Hi David - contempt of court, disrespecting the court, and violating a court order could begin the list. This is an example of tv not representing real life. If you are in a Civil Court, your attorney would probably lie and say you had taken ill. If you are in an Appeals Court, you better not count on winning the appeal. If you are in a Criminal Court, it could even be construed as violating probation (when you are in the custody of your attorney). In other words, it's not a good idea and could be considered insolent behavior.

This must have been a civil case? While I suppose the judge could find the defendant in contempt, there is really no point after the verdict is delivered. Did the defendant have a lawyer there? The verdict could be entered as a judgment whether the defendant is there or not.

the quick answer is not any. contained in relation to conflict, whilst conflict comprises you or the worldwide, in part or finished, is threatened by utilising tyranny and evil, conflict is in many cases the sole option. it relatively is particularly uncomplicated, non-violent civil disobedience does no longer have worked against the NAZIs. As for capital punishment, the situation isn't with the punishment the situation is with the judicial device. Too many are convicted and condemned on flimsy info...and too many get off unfastened via fact they'd have adequate money the suitable legal experts. as a consequence, people who should not be on death row, and a few who've been accomplished, wallow interior the blunders made by utilising police, prosecutors, judges and juries. for sure, although, there are some for whom there is not any doubt as to their guilt and for those opt for few, capital punishment remains incredible, IMHO.

Nothing! I've done it myself. Contempt of court requires a direct violation of a courts order. Oh, yeah and the stupidity or ignorance to submit yourself to their "jurisdiction".

You can walk out if you like, it doesn't matter the judgement will still stand. Now, if you're going to be locked up once you're found guilty then trying to walk out will result in you being tackled by the baliff.
