Endorphins.
It's a chemical fix, courtesy of your brain. I bet it's almost even better when you're not sure if you can afford it.
Try exercise instead - it does the same thing, it's cheaper, and you'll live longer.

Any change, or the perspective of something new, unknown, makes your body to produce endorfines, which make you feel excited and with a feeling of happiness. This is valid for every change: a new boy/girl friend, a new job, a trip, etc. When you buy something new, the excitment is the same. It does not matter if the feeling last half hour or one month or two years. It has nothing to do with capitalism or buyer compulsion. It is a kind of state of body and mind. If this helps you to have a good time and take your stress away, and if you have the money, buy something new for you, for your kids, for your parents...I am not a consumist. I am a woman who suffered stress lots of times in the past.

Usually you're going shopping to "feel better" as an excuse to get away from the situation that's stressing you out. However, that often has the opposite effect because then you're so prone to buying on impulse. And if you think retailers don't know this . . .
Have a good weekend, and cut up that credit card!

You might get the same degree of satisfaction by shopping at your local thrift store. It'll also save you a lot of money, and you'll probably be helping a good cause.

Well my dear, that's your own way of relieving yourself of the stress. Be thankful you don't eat whenyou're stressed. However, this also may have its disadvantages. Be sure to get a hold on yourself.

Shopping in capitalist society that we live in releases uncoscious and we feel 'free', the feeling free releases 'feel good' thing that makes u better. Meditation and deep breathing can help.
