Spain. No constest. Hand to God, it's Europe's best kept secret. I spent a month driving around. You can get a decent room, bright, sunny, in one of those many white stucco towns for SEVEN DOLLARS! A room that would cost you $250 here over there costs $35. They have some of the most UNUSUAL scenery you've ever seen. Towns carved out of rock, prehistoric dwellings, towns built entirely on cliffs, bridges built by the Romans that are still being used BY CARS (!!!) it will blow your mind. But also, all the medieval type towns that you find in France and Italy, you can find in Spain. And, you're CONNECTED via Eurail to wherever else in that magical place called Europe that you want to be.
People on this website, you guys are a lot younger than me. But just GO there! You will NEVER regret it!
