Saigon is an excellent place for expats to work and live. There is a relatively new community Southeast of the city near the golf course that is designed for expat living. There are apartment and condos that are flats instead of the skinny six story houses that most Viets live in. A convenience store and hamburger joint is there too.

I believe you will need a work permit. There is already thousands of expats working and living there now, so it should be easy to obtain. I suggest trying to transfer into the country through a foreign company already there instead of finding a job on the street. The pay is ususally better that way.

Good luck to you!
