I would love to vote for someone that is young with good ideas. There are too many old-timers in politics.
Depending on where you live, you many need to run for lower offices to build your base, like one on the school board, or as a city council member. There may be quite a bit of corruption and a long established good-old-boys club, which could make it hard for newcomers like yourself to rise up.
Being that your an independent candidate it may be difficult as well. Whether your city has a history of voting for independent candidates, should be considered, and you may want to consider changing political parties if that would benefit your vote.
There is much to consider, but if you feel you are up to the challenge go for it! We need some fresh politics.
Good luck!

I agree, you should run for mayor & become mayor. You seem to understand your city & it's situations very well & clearly too. Even if you don't have experience, you know your city like the back of your hand. If u can turn around the city,u will have acomplished something very well.
Good Luck & Best Wishes-

The problem with politics is that honest young people like you do not come forward to play their rightful role. They think it is muck and leave it alone. There is one problem. You are too young. Check what the qualifying age is. start preparing yourself. Start with soapbox oratory. The main weapon for politician is to be able to sway people. Go right ahead and wish you all the luck.

Sure. Start campaigning and you can get lots of free publicity as the 19 year old who had a vision and decided to make a stand.
Sounds fun. Email me if you want an agent...we'll talk.

Are you willing to put up with endless advice. Have your personal life inspected. Smile when you don't want to. Glad hand people you don't like. Be hung out to dry for something you really believe in. If so go ahead and good luck.

I think you should run for President. You could beat the current guy on spelling and grammar.

the fact that you're asking on yahoo answers if you should run for mayor means that you probably shouldn't. keep tabs on politics though, that's good.
