Was wondering who people think is the best anti-hero in comics? Definition of anti-hero for any who don't know is someone who fights for their own reasons, not for the greater good, but still does good. Will accept any answer as long as it can be justified.

I want to say Sub-Mariner because I have seen him literally go both ways when it comes to being an anti-hero. He can be your greatest ally or your worst enemy.

Blade is a great anti-hero. So Is Batman.

But the one man nobody can beat when it comes to doing the most cold blooded deeds for the greatest reasons is none other than the Ol'Cannuckle Head himself: Wolverine. Unlike Batman, he wont pull punches unless he's stopped from finishing the job. And unlike Blade, he hasn't set out on a one man crusade against evil. Wolverine gets the job done when nobody else has the stomach for it. He walks his own path and sets things right when he sees that what's going on is wrong. A hero's cause, with a villains methods. There is no doubt who the ultimate Anti-Hero really is. Wolverine took the lead when he come onto the comic book scene and he hasn't let it go since.

Kudos to Andrea, SubMariner is the only decent one on this list.

Anti-heroes are stupid. Sorry to fill you in on this, but anti-heroes don't last b/c their stories aren't inspiring. Look at Wolverine. By the time he got his own comic he had turned into the hero b/c his anti-hero routine was dull.

That's why Punisher will always be a flash in the pan. He makes a good support character at times, and the occasional mini-series...but he'll never be a top draw. Nor should he. Because getting excited over anti-heroes is like going to a fine bakery and choosing Twinkies.

for me either blade or the punisher. they seem to have a dark side to their persona but at the same time they are still fighting on the good side. the punisher is a vigilante and like all vigilantes they don't allow outside influences such as the police for instance to get involved.
blade is a half-vampire superhero though he has more ability and is far more skillful than the punisher. especially with those trusty sword wielding and deadly martial arts combat skills at the ready.

I would say spawn but up until recently he's been pulled from pillar to post by powers trying to use him for their own good, finally he might just become the force he can be and kick some behind without being manipulated. But seeing as how I can't say him,I'll go with good old batman
