Sweetie, let me tell you, Tylenol will do NOTHING for labor pains! Not even extra strength Tylenol....Epidural is the best thing in the world1 I had my first baby all natural, and it felt as if a watermelon was coming out of my nose...With my second, I had an epidural, and it was the best thing since I have ever experienced..
If you are having too much pain, before you are able to get the epidural, there are some things they can give you..

Avoid taking any medication before going in to have our baby. Anything you take could have serious side effects with something they give you.

It feels like someone has a pair of pliers and is pulling your tailbone off. It is like extreme constipation. There are several things you can do, but you need to discuss them ahead of time with whoever is going to be with you during the birth (doctor, mother, baby's father, etc..), it is also a good idea to write your wishes down. It would also be beneficial to have a doula. A doula is a woman who is trained in childbirth, and will stay with you throughout your labor.

Things you can do to make it hurt less..
First understand that if you have an epidural it may or may not take away the pain while you are in labor. It is also common practice to turn down the medication just before you deliver so that you can feel when it is time to push (this is a good thing). Talk to your doctor about their procedure. You will feel the pain later on, as it takes a few weeks to heal.

Second if you don't have an epidural, make sure your doctor will allow you to deliver in whatever position you want. Most women feel most comfortable squatting, or being on their hands and knees. (a doula can help you with this).

When you are on your back, you are fighting gravity, you are also applying pressure to the back of your pelvis, which will trap the baby, and make your body fight harder to get the baby out.

Other things that help, are applying warm/hot towels to the area (boil some water), or using olive oil on the area to help the baby slide out. Educate yourself. Get a book or two on natural childbirth, so that you understand how the process occurs naturally, then ask your doctor for information on all the different procedures you may face in a more modern delivery. The best thing you can do is stay calm, relaxed, and not panic. If you freak out, your muscles will tense, and the baby won't come out so easy.

The laleche league will have several books that you should be able to borrow for free, otherwise check with your local library.

There is an epidural or paracervical. The epidural lasts for as long as needed. The paracervical is for an hour or so. Tylenol won't do much, sorry. Good luck to you. If you don't have any help with pain, it does hurt but only for just awhile and then it's over.

They will give you an epidural. Although I don't know how long it will last. Some women do feel the pain when delivering their baby. And yes it hurts like hell. I am sorry to say. However try to endure the pain as long as possible because you want the epidural to be working while you are pushing. This way you won't feel the pain of the birth. Good luck sweetie and congrats on your new baby.

no it does hurt but don't take any medication unless the doctor tells u maybe if u ask the doctor i have a sister who just went into labor and it hurt it only hurts because the baby is coming ut of u know what i mean and it streches it so then as the baby is being pushed u will go thruohg a little bit of pain but it won't kill you

Tylenol isn't going to help anything. Are you having a natural birth? I wanted drugs! I yelled for drugs! lol Once I got my epidural I felt nothing! It was great. :)

No, you should just let the doctor give you a spinal pain killer- remember, any drugs YOU take will hurt the baby. Let the Docs select the pain killers ok?

You should NOT take anything if you think you are in labor.

Call your Doctor and go directly to the Hospital.

If you are indeed in labor they will give you pain medicine at the Hospital.

No, no medicine, anything you take you're giving the baby too. I know there are plenty of drugs that are said to not be harmful to the baby, but I don't trust them.
Quit worrying about yourself here, the baby shouldn't be subjected to drugs because you're weak!
