Never tried it. I find it hard enough getting down ice, moguls, and other obstacles without cracking my skull learning new tricks. Serious quesion. Is it worth it, or not?

Hey, I'm a major skier, and I've always wanted to try snowboarding just for the heck of it. I think it's good to have experience in both sports and then judge. Whatever you do, make sure you know the rules of the mountain, don't stop to do anything where people can't see you or in the middle of the slope, and always be somewhat in control. Don't go for slopes you normally rip up as a skier, but start in the beginner areas. And whoever said that snowboarding looks cooler, I feel bad for you. The only 'cool' looking snowboarders are the ones who can actually snowboard, and frankly, beginners look about as cool as the Sahara Desert. There's also no way that snowboarding is so much more fun than skiing; skiing is such a communal sport, you meet friendly people on the lifts, and I often spend days just sitting at the top of the course with my friends, laughing and hanging out. Skiers can handle jumps very well; I know some kids younger than me that can turn 720s on the biggest jump on the mountain. The sports of skiing and snowboarding are very different and neither is 'cooler' or 'more fun' than the other.

I'm more of a fast, form-conscious skier who loves bashing plastic in the race course (can you say GS, baby!) and I can't imagine that I would love anything more than the enormous high I get from skiing. But I'm planning on trying snowboarding one of the weekends that we don't have races, and I'll see for myself what all the fuss is about!

Skiing and Snowboarding are done on snow, that's where the similarity ends. Skiing is like driving a car, you're always in control, you can stop anytime you want to and it's nice n easy to go slow/fast, anything you want.

Snowboarding is like riding a motorcycle, it's about leaning into the turns, having rhythm and having fun. If you can't do the ice and the mogels then easy, don't go near the ice or the moguls. Head to the soft stuff on the edge of the piste - and fall over in it, it's called having fun.

If your goal is to get down the mountain quickly and safely and you find pleasure in that, then skiing is for you.

If on the other hand you just want to get out into the snow, have a laugh, meet people (and of course look a lot cooler) then get on a board and give it a go.

TOP TIP - don't bother trying to learn drag lifts on a board. It's possible but there-again so is pulling your own teeth out with pliers.

There are 2 camps contained in the iciness activities international, the skiers and the snowboarders. Skiers tend to be older and wiser, and snowboarders tend to be youthful and cooler. I ski, and have not at all been tempted to snowboard as i'm old now and youth do no longer tempt me to alter. in case you snowboard, you will get old and no longer be cool once you're older. there is physically powerful suggestion in regards to the instruction curve, even nevertheless it somewhat relies upon on your long term destiny. Snowboarders are the burn out and die types, while skiers are the consistently committed. i like skiers, even nevertheless that's a controversy of flavor. it is your decision finally. Do you like pink or white wine? Which would desire to you drink?

Try it. I have skied all my life, but did learn how to snowboard. Never liked it though, so I don't anymore.

I say if you have the chance to learn, go get lessons and learn.

Skiing is still the best though, from my point of view. You can do so much more. But maybe if I was an expert snowboarder, I wouldn't say that!

It sure is! I skiied for years - and it's a blast. But I learned to snowboard and didn't touch my ski's again. It's been about 15 years since I last skiied.

It's totally worth it.If you know both then you can choose want you want to do any snowy day. Plus I think there is a lot more freedom of movement boarding and I think it's harder to wrench a knee or ankle.
