My family grew up as a minority. There was only about 10% white people. I was never treated bad by anybody, and I welcome all races, however, my siblings tend to be racist at times.

I'm white, and I grew up without a single racist idea mentioned during my childhood, but I work in a racist part of the US. The minorities there are accustomed to being treated poorly by whites and are therefore guarded, unfriendly, and sometimes even hostile toward me. I realized a while ago that I was beginning to treat blacks differently than I treat whites, out of the expectation that they would treat me poorly. I quickly talked myself out of this mindset-- I hate racism, and I refuse to be part of the problem. However, it's easy to see how a cycle of hatred can propagate itself indefinitely if both sides don't make a conscious choice to end it.

We all were created in Gods image. No one is better than another person regardless of skin color. You have to tell your siblings, that racism is a sin and that they are in trouble if they do not let go that their bigotry. There is no room for hate in the kingdom of heaven. God is unconditional love and we all are a member of the human family.

I grew up around black people and have had some good friends that were black. But some of my family is racist and I don't get it. We all bleed the same. Get over it, I say.

Some people just don't like different people. That doesn't justify treating someone badly just because they have a different skin color though. If we could all see we were created equal, I think there would be less of these types of issues.

Sorry to say, some people need to find others lower than themselves. Handy hooks are color, country of origin, other religion, and other gender.

The "Why" part I really cannot answer. But that is the reason for it.

I think it still comes down to races sticking together and people are hardwired to have a "us vs them" attitude as we are social creatures

Ignorance
Fear
Misunderstanding
Up bringing

But non of those are acceptable. Every one needs to have a open mind. We are all the same.
