A punkah is an early type of cieling fan used in India and other Eastern countries, and the punkah wallah was the servant (often a child) whose job it was to work it. It often used a pulley system.
BTW a "pukka wallah" is like saying "the big cheese", top-dog, etc.

Memories of a bye gone age of British Empire. A punka wallah was or may still be a servant whose job is to cool the master or mistress by fanning. I would have much preferred a Cha Wallah - a tea servant.!

In this situation I would say astaghfiruallah and pray 2 rakat nafl to ask Allah for forgiveness next time tell the truth because just lying without even saying wallah is also haram. The truth always comes out anyway so there's no point. :)

In the days of the Raj this was a servant of Indian origin who waved the fan and cooled you down, and did other menial tasks.
