Please speak to your doctor. You're really too young for a hysterectomy, but that's what I had to do this year (I'm 42) for a problem I've had for about 10 years... it's called Menorrhagia.
Menorrhagia is the medical term for excessive or prolonged menstrual bleeding, or both. The condition is also known as hypermenorrhea.
What I read on the internet was that Menorrhagia is heavy bleeding for at least a 24-hour period of time in which you "soak" a 'heavy flow' tampon OR maxi pad in an hour or less, amongst a few other symptoms.
For me, it was BOTH tampon AND pad every 30 minutes for the first day, every hour the second day, and the horrible cramps along with it.
This situation also caused me to become extremely anemic, which caused me to feel tired all the time.
At 42, with grown kids and being a grandma already, I had passed my desire for more children, so hysterectomy was the solution for me. However, at 17 and pretty much just entering your child-bearing years, this probably isn't a reasonable choice for you.
However, there are other things that you can do to help with this problem, but you NEED to speak to a GYN about your specific situation and what treatment is right FOR YOU. But DO see a doctor. Menorrhagia, although not really 'dangerous' itself, can lead to other medical issues, such as the anemia. Let your doctor help you find a treatment that will help make your "monthly" better.

Your problem is not unusual in girls your age.
You do need to see a doctor.
You may have endometriosis, or maybe you're just unlucky. Either way, the doctor can prescribe birth control pills to regulate your period and minimize cramps, or other treatment if appropriate.
I seriously doubt you will need a hysterectomy! I've had many, many friends who've suffered what you're talking about. At least you know you're not alone.

You might need to go to a doctor..if you're young(teens), then that's pretty bad for you.
