They came close didn't they. And the US has more enemies than ever.
Here is an interesting article that says that Homeland Security has been too obsessed with preventing another attack like 911 and has neglected to prepare for a new type of attack. Sounds familiar.

It sucks....in the biggest possible sense!! You can live your life in fear, terrified of what might be coming round the next corner but that's exactly what they want us to do. It's too easy to blame the Americans for everything. It's too easy to blame anyone but ourselves. In response to your question, I pray to god that someone somehere can sort all this out without the need for machines and violence, but it aint ever going to happen. Another attack on American/British soil is probably about as certain as a public toilet smelling foul!!
They've unfoiled the plot to blow up some air crafts and arrested 20 something dudes. Thats ok then because there's probably only another 50 thousand extremists out there willing to give it another go. It scares the s**t out of me to think it's gonna happen again. But we got eyes in the front of heads and not the backs, so we can see were we're going and not were we've come from.

This plot is not much different than what has been going on for the last 25 years.. The same people are still at it. Only with increased intensity.. they have a global plan and the US is the main obstacle in their way.

I think that some of the people who get scared, shouldn't be scared. The point of all the extra securities in airports paid off didnt it? The reason why we had all the extra stuff, was to prevent another type of 9/11 right? They caught them, better then let it slip and hundreds more die. This for me, gives me more confident in our system. Still needs a little work though, but I think they have it covered... not many of us would have went and checked liquids really.. we think of bombs as ticking explosives... remember what just happened... we stopped it... hopefully we keep on stopping it'

That recent terrorist plot probably would have worked. We have to be thankful that some British Muslim alerted the British authorities that something fishy was happening. Otherwise, the Muslim terrorists might have brought down a few of our planes.

What makes Americans think they they are any more protected than London, Madrid, or Dublin?
We should be thankful we have only been hit once (9/11) so far.
Yes, there will be numerous more attacks, we are at war, according to the Bush administration.

We- USA - are always prone to attack! We are the number one world power and every body on the planet wants to see that change. THEY want to be the power. Kind of like being the prettiest girl in school, but not belonging to any particular clique. Or being the fastest gun in the old west, everyone wants to use you to improve their own image. Kind of like Geo. Bush! He gets blamed for everything that happens on the planet from hurricanes to global warming to terrorist. Go figure!

america will always be in danger of attack. it seems to have a lot of enemies who feed from and on it , and still desire only to destroy it. i believe as long as osama is left alone, he will devise more ways of breaking the chain of security in the US. even as we look forward to the aanniversary of 9/11, we should become more security concious and vigilant.
they might not attack with airplanes the next time, knowing that people on board, will fight them to death. americans should begin to beware of internal enemies and home grown terrorists.
i believe that the terrorists will attack places with high human densities like sport stadiums, recreational parks, airports and schools. knowing that they might not have another chance, they'll try to hit where it hurts most.
americans should always be on the alert.
God bless American and other God fearing countries too.

Yes young lady we are at risk. I am working on a thesis for my Masters Degree on what I feel is a 10 year plan by Osama bin Laden to infiltrate America, establish operatives in our communities and wait for instructions "known as sleeper cells".

I hope not. Not necessarily because I'd be scared, but because then we wouldn't be able to bring ANYthing on to a plane! They'd start stripping us down and giving us jumpsuits to wear. And then they'd start strapping us down so we couldn't move until the flight was done. Airport security's getting really ridiculous these days.
