IT depends what floats your boat - definitely travel somewhere new, but of the many countries I've skiied America has been the best (I'm British by the way).

The snow is excellent, the runs are generally less busy than Europe, queues are short and people are generally friendly and fun. The only downside is it's quite expensive to get there. Canada is similar but it was so damn cold!

If you want to stay in Europe and you're a beginner, Scandanavia has much to offer, particularly Sweden. The benefits are as above, but the skiing isn't as challenging (though it's good enough if you're not 'hard core'). Beer is expensive but the beautfiul girls (and boys, so my female friends tell me) make up for it! ;-)

Try and branch out a bit. If you are looking to travel, I would suggest Alta, Snowbird, Kirkwood, Whistler, or Jackson Hole. Steer clear of Summit County Colorado if you can. It's a great place to ski, but it's probably the most crowded ski region in North America. Lift lines get long, and the snow is usually not as good as Utah or Jackson Hole.

Good luck!

I always go to Steamboat. No crowds except maybe at Christmas. Great snow. Last season I also went to Jackson Hole which had great snow, fantastic skiing.

Welch Village in Welch, MN. I go there all the time every winter. It is on the easier side, though.
