Probably has something to do with communication. I doubt every soldier fighting there has a pager they can just beep and say "Cease fire!" This gives enough time for both sides to make sure everyone involved knows that as of this time and date, there is a cease fire. Otherwise, one side could just keep shooting and say "oh, those guys didn't hear about it yet..." 36 hours might be a little long, but it gives them time to reach everyone (hopefully)

I'm sure these couple of days will be hard on Lebanon, Israel wants to bomb as much as possible before they stop, two more days will not do anything for Israel , they will not finish Hezbollah, they could not do that in one month , two more days will not matter, they just want some more damage.

the problem is not stopping Israel from firing its making sure the hezbollah abides by it.
hezbollah started this fight, why should they benefit by it at all?
