I'm going to be a junior this September and I was wondering when is a good time to start getting ready? Like choosing a college, what you need, when to apply, etc.

It would be a good idea to start now gathering information on the colleges you might like to attend. The best piece of information to get is the college catalog. That will give you tons of information on each college.

The first place to start would be at each college's website. You will find a lot of information there, as well as links for pages where you can request a catalog or other info to be sent to you. Many schools now also allow you to fill out your application on line.

Your junior year is not too soon to be starting this process. The competition is fierce for popular schools which usually only accept a small percentage of those who apply.

Good luck!

Take and prepare for SAT as much as possible. Get 2-3 teachers that would love you, so you have someone to write recommendation letters for you. Make sure that your senior and junior classes are challenging, if you are planning on attending a good college. If you already have an idea what field you are going to, go volunteer in the appropriate facility( looks nice on your application). Get in to a good club or event, like National Honor Society, National History Day etc. Basically make sure your application will look full of stuffffff ☺

Start preparing for college in 9th grade.

Since you're already a junior, it's time to get going. Browse the colleges of your choosing & visit them online & in person. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 colleges & then make your applications. Don't waste any time as there is a lot of stuff going on in your junior year that's going to be very important to you & will take lots of your time.

Your adviser or school counselor has sorely failed you! You should have begun to think about readying for college in your freshman year at the very latest. Depending on grades and financial ability, you'll need to apply by the middle of your junior year. Good luck to you!!!

Right now. You need to talk to your guidance counselor and he/she will guide on finding out about entrance exam dates, applications, and anything else you have questions about. Hopefully, you have maintained a relatively high GPA and you have participated in extra curricular activities, for this will help you get into a good college and possibly get you some scholarships.
