Honey, I wasn raised in the South. Went to school and graduted in the south, Originally born in Chicago. Still down south. I love it here. But it's just the impression that some people from the south give... Not everyone does this. Some people only see the beer drinkin. drug usin, police escapin rednecks who marry thier sisters. The ones that are educated, have a good life, and never have been in trouble with the law are the ones that go unnoticed. You shouldn't let that bother you. But I don't think everyone thinks this about us. CRUEL that jokes are made, but then again the South is well known for it's share of YANKEE jokes as well.. Don't let it bother you so much

Are you saying that all the people from the south are not rednecks, gee, and here I thought Jeff Foxworthy was being honest about what he says and not just making it up. What does having a nice house and job or helping your relatives get out of jail have to do with being a redneck anyhow. Especially the whether jail time is involved or not part.

The root of the problem lies in past issues involving racism in the south. The south was the last hold out concerning slavery and segregation. A stereotype is hard to shake, and the media tends to enhance this perception. The Redneck way of thinking comes from parts of England and has its negative points. Given time, and passage of time, the Redneck stereotype will go away. Living your life as an honest and good person will change perceptions to the contrary.

We know you're not all stupid, but, thanks to movies and TV, a southern accent comes across as stupid. I lived in South Carolina for 10 years, so I know personally that people from the South aren't any less intelligent than other people I've met.
I think that people from different parts of the country have slightly different points of view, and they don't always mesh very well. We all stand up for for "our own", we just do it in different ways.

Well, try examing the grammar and structure of your declamation and then think about it.

There are red necks up North, too, and decent people.
