Would we have more dedicated people running for office ?
Would it help to get rid of any thing that now pays them for life ?
No one other then the president should be in office on any level for more then 4 years .What do you think ?

I agree These politicians that have been there forever or so it seems forget about who they are there for All of them are over paid. They all get an automatic pay raise Yet the mini um wage has not been raised in ages. The way things are now only the wealthy can afford to run for office. and even then most are in some corporations back pocket. There needs to be spending limits and contribution limits put on political campaigns Better yet eliminate campaign contributions al together and set up funding by setting up a fund for campaigns that is paid for by having all taxpayers contribute $2-$ 3TO IT this MONEY WOULD BE EVENLY DISTRIBUTED AMONGST ANYONE RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE

President George W. Bush's salary is $400,000 per year, which you can verify under "G. W. Bush salary" on Yahoo. That isn't really a lot. Many CEO's, even in small companies, make a lot more. So do many actors and ball players, so the President of the United States certainly isn't overpaid. Four years isn't long enough to get the most out of someone in this complicated job, and anyone but Superman would be burned out after eight years..

Then nobody would take the job. What makes you think if you pay someone less they will be better? What that says is that no one with any talent would want the job, and there would also be more graft. The job of President of the united states is an extremely high stressed job. They don't make near enough for what they have to put up with. I agree on term limits for congress, and would also like to see the line Item veto implemented. The President makes $400K yr and they earn every penny.

It's not the pay actually. Sure there are SOME perks to the job,but why would anyone want to be President of the United States I'll never know. The stress and you're handling priorities every minute of every day.
I couldn't be politically correct. I speak my mind at all times. But then I'd be impeached for causing a diplomatic incident, lol.

You are naive
most people who run for high public office are from rich and powerful family, so must of the time it is not about the money.
It all about power and history.
they want to be powerful and very important, and ego to call the shot, and impose things my way on the rest of people.
As history go, their names will implant among history greatest even if they never done anything good while ther were in office. some of them go to great length to erase a lot negative about them, so history can say what a great leader they were
For example Ronald Regan was one of those, as time gone by now will thing he was a great leader. Ronald Regan was so forgetful, he could didn't make the different between what movie role he played, sometime people have to keep telling what to say during speech , and last month politic, and many scandal , poverty, and crime

As much as I don't like Bush, I think the president is overpaid for being the CEO of the most powerful nation in the world. He gets paid paltry money compared to CEO's of big companies. It's all about the prestige and power that the presidency brings. It's not about money. Atleast not yet until his term expires and then he could be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for 1 speaking engagement.

The pay of office isn't the draw. It is the power and the draw of the money that comes with that power via manipulating policy to their own interests.

I think there should at least be a minimum competency test. Ronnie and W would have flunked anything seeking more than 3rd grade proficiency, however.

If Dumbya made the minimum $5.15/hr it would be $100/hr MORE than he is worth.
