our blazer had the same problem(96 also)

replace the fuel pump..the motor isnt getting enough fuel...therefore it starts and dies..

also change the spark plugs and wires..and have the injectors done..

if its the vacumm lines you wouldnt get any air flow inside your cabin also. if that occurs replace vacuum lines too.

we just did all these on ours and its running perfect now.(with 180K miles)

also consider doing the catalytic converter...i know ours is bad..we just havent done it yet

Should have a vacuum guide on the hood... How the hoses are ran.... If it has been awhile sense injectors were cleaned... Double the dose of injector cleaner.. Then use a bottle the next couple of time you get gas/fuel.
If gas when did you have a tune up??

I would definitely get some carb/throttle-body cleaner and run it through a couple of treatments. Then treat one tank of fuel with injector/fuel system cleaner.

Knowing that year blazer it probally has a fuel pump issue. Check fuel pressure, Spray Carb cleaner through intake and see if it will rev up when you do that. Probally has weak fuel pump

Try a new throttle position sensor.
Useing an ohmmeter check for continuity accross the end leads, and from center lead (wiper) to each end. Look for an open.
