Does he smile yet? My little girl started to show her love the most when she smiled at me. Not just flicker smiles, but big big smiles! And then the giggles started too. Thats where you start to feel the love they are developing for you and where yours starts to burst even more for them. Talk to him about anything when its you and him like u would an adult. If a tv program is starting say 'hey little man ....... show is starting. This is all about... blah blah blah. He may not have much idea of what u really mean, but he'll love you talking to him. Be involved as much as you can with that sort of thing (and bathing, feeding etc) and your bond with him will grow heaps. He loves you and knows you love him coz you are there for him. He wouldn't be thinking that he lucked out this time, he'd be curious at the deep voice and difference to mum who's voice he knows from the womb. Let him watch u and 'take you in' as you talk to him. By the time he's a few months old you'll see what everyone means.

aww bless
dont forget he is only young and its his first time here in the big wide world he is still trying to take it all in
he knows who mummy and daddy are but mum s always win the babys favour because the baby has grown inside her for nine months so they have a special bond
just be normal and do things with him that you would do normally dont try and take over completley coz that wont work
as soon as he is a few months old he will know your his dad and will know that you love him
good luck and enjoy every second with him they grow so fast before you know it he will be starting school

Hes five weeks old, calm down. Considering babies that small will show affection for anyone to feed them and give them attention, thats all you need.
I think you need to learn some new skills and do whatever you need to do to get your confidence up. Wait for your kid to actually develop an opinion and be loving all the time and he/she will love you

Help the baby's mother as much as possible. Change his diapers, bathe him, feed him (if possible), hold him, get up in the middle of the night (if you're bottle feeding). Baby's spend a lot more time with mommy, and so Dad's need to make that extra effort to connect. We bottle fed, and when I went back to work, we took turns getting up in the middle of the night with our son. Not only did it help them connect, but it also helped me keep my sanity:) Hope this helps.

Do as much as you can for him, bath him, feed him, he will learn that you are going to be there for him and learn to love you. My husband felt the same our baby would cry as soon as he picked him up and wouldn't settle until I took him, but he persevered and now he is five months old and gets excited as soon as daddy walks through the front door!

Change his diapers.Talk to him and in a couple of months he wont be so clingy to momma. But for the first couple of months all they want is there momma. It's natural. Your son knows that u love him. Tell him alot to. And congrats on your new son.

Awww he doesn't think much of anything at this point, seriously. All he is concerned for is food, sleep, clean clothes and a clean butt and someone to cuddle with. He's not thinking anything about you at all, Just be there for him as he grows up and he'll love you always. Protect him as he grows up, teach him what love is and he'll love.

picking up small children and giving them attention will let them that you love them. a 5 week old child is too young to pick up on this knid of contact but be consistent and he'll become attached to before you know it.

Congrats on the new baby, but i think you're being paranoid...at 5 weeks, they don't think stuff like that....and babies don't care how you look, they just want to be loved and cared for....don't worry...your baby loves you, and always will as long as you care for and love your baby...

he knows you are his mummy, just love him with your heart and soul and he'll soon return your affections..
cuddle him close when you feed him, eye contact is so important especially when feeding, bathing and playing with him, but most of all enjoy every single moment because in no time at all they are grown, even though the cuddles are still there..
good luck, enjoy and be happy..........
