Go to the doctors. You may have an infected lymph node. This is not something to mess with, you can end up with an infection in your entire system. You may have started the problem with a tiny cut under your arm when you were shaving, or it may be some other type of infection that entered your body and settled in that gland. Your body is trying to fight the infection, but you should not have let the pain go until you find it painful to lower your arm. You can have a boil-like abscess under the skin, which would not have a head, and will most likely need to be drained by a doctor to take down the swelling. I had an allergic reaction to spray deodorant when I was a teenager, ended up with several swollen and sore areas under my arm, in my armpit because of it. I had to be put on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and have to be careful of antiperspirant/deodorant ingredients to this day. Please go to the doctors as soon as possible. Best of luck to you.

You definitely need to see the doctor - a friend of mine had something like that and it turned into a staph infection - she had to get surgery and it wasn't a good thing but it would have been a LOT worse if she didn't go in. Get it checked. I think it has a lot to do with shaving/deodorant, etc. I know of a teenager (female) who ended up with the SAME problem "down below" because she was shaving and that was really bad too.

It is most likely a blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles will cause such cysts. As they form in hair follicles they are more common in hairier areas as in your case. They can be painful and if they become large enough you might want to have a doctor remove it.

They can be painful especially if you squeeze them. They can then become infected and swell even more.

But you might want to have a doctor confirm it just to be sure.

They are more common among teenagers and may indicate that you need to take more showers, especially if you live in a hot climate. They are more common in the hot climates.

If it were me i'd call my family doctor as soon as i could. If i had alot pain i would go to the hospital. I would not take any advise on here where someone could say "Its just nothing and will go away."
Get to a doctor ok? Because the longer you leave it? It could get worse.

Advice on something like this needs to come from your doctor and not here. Have it checked out right away. It may or may not be anything serious. Time is of the essence.

GET TO A DOCTOR NOW!!!!! This is no time to fool around with lumps, painful or otherwise. Only a doctor can say for sure whether it's "nothing" or "something".

It could be a clogged sweat gland. I get them to a lesser degree 2 times a year. Go to the Doctor and he will help you and confirm it is not worse.

Seek Medical attention immediately for this problem since it is causing pain in other areas, not just localized. The first person answering your post was the correct one.

I get that sometimes. I shave my armpits, so I think I press a little too hard and it creates zits which hurt like how you described. I think they're either zits or lymph nodes. If it doesn't go down in a week, see a dermatologist.
