I love red juicy apples but they are just too costly!

I work in the produce dept. of a grocery store. Apples are not the only thing costly. All produce is going up among all other things. It's because of the gas prices, everything is going up to pay for transporting.

Apple harvest in the US in most apple-growing communities is in October. Apples currently on the market are either from CA(controlled atmosphere - with CO2) or from other countries. Usually when in season, like anything else, the price will go down. Be sure to wash your apple before eating to remove wax and pesticides. But apples are nutritious and are worth it!

The price of apples is variable. The cost vs. the value. Compare the costs of apples to, I dunno, oranges.
