there could be a coulple things wrong here. if you have a video card and a motherboard with integrated graphics the motherboard could be set up to send the signal to the other port. try moving the vga or dvi cable to the othrport any trying again. also, your video card could not be seated right. try taking it out and putting it back in after blowing out the bus connector. your video card could also not be hooked up right. many newer card require a second poer core to plug in the back of the card to get extra power, which may or might not be your case. finally, you may have to flip through your monitors signal input methods. many monitors now (especailly lcds or flat screens) have more than one way to input a signal. be it dvi, vga or a tv out/in jack. there will be a switch or buton on the monitor that allows you to move between the different methods of input.
Hope this helps!

The number of beeps are an indication to what is wrong. If it's a long beep that keep going on then it's deffinitely your display adapter. If you have a graphics card that is not onboard (built into your motherboard) then it's good, you can just purchase another graphics card and get it up and running again. But if your onboard graphics card has blown up then it's hard, might have to replace the motherboard. If it's not that, then let me know the number of beeps, can help you from there. Also just check that your RAM is placed in properly, and if you have two RAM chips try them one by one and see if it works.

I would say as step one, the quickest way to check to see if you monitor is blown is to plug in another one. Borrow one from a neighbor or friend would be my suggestion.
