They aren't as dumb as you think they are. Cows have different kinds of moos that even a human can understand. They have one that sounds like a very low pitch mmmmmmmm that means "come here" to her calf. They also have a loud mmmhhh that goes from low pitch to high pitch that means "I can't find my baby". A sound like mmmmeeeehhhh coming from a calf means "I can't find my mother". There are more for "I see my breakfast pickup coming", "Don't take another step towards me", etc. Communication is not limited to humans, you know. I'm sure pigs have their own language, but I've never been around pigs so I don't know what they "say" to each other.
